Choosing a contractor requires a little homework. You need to know what questions to ask and what answers to look for, instead of just blindly picking someone out of the Yellow Pages or the classified ads.

A reputable contractor will be able to put you in touch with a number of customers willing to talk about their projects. Those references should be able to talk freely about any aspect of the project – be cautious with references who are vague or “unable” or unwilling to answer certain questions.
A reputable contractor will also be willing to take you to inspect current and completed projects.
